can anyone tell me how to change the fuel filter on the 2L tdci? I know it's probably obvious, but it looks quite awkward.Do you need to unclip the fuel lines from the top of the filter or does the filter just unscrew from the bottom?

Have an 03 plate 2.0 TDCI with 80K on the clock. Since buying vehicle in Feb 2010 i have had what seems a commom thread link but have been unable to get to the root cause of the issue. Problem Description -. Erratic idle and if engine revved around 1800 rpm + the engine feels like it is running on 3 cylinders - significant misfire affect.

Transmission fluid temperature should be around 40 ± 5°C. Move the shift lever to every position (P, R, N, D, manual mode) (Hold for 20 seconds in each position), and then move it to the P range. Stop the engine. Remove the air cleaner element and air cleaner intake duct. Remove the filler plug.
Hi have you tried bleeding the system it sounds like you might have some air in the fuel lines. I have a mk4 mondeo 2.0 TDCi and I had a similar problem after I changed the fuel filter. I hope it’s ok to mention that I made a video on YouTube recently showing exactly what equipment I used and how I bled the system. Mondeo 2.2 TDCi 200. First manifested when filling up with a different brand of diesel, within 2 miles car went in to limp mode (engine malfunction readout and beep but no EML), having otherwise been fine. Switched off and switched back on again, no faults for a further 450 miles, filled up with fuel again yesterday and drove a mile back home
