Hardly ever used the throwing knives compared to AC2 & Brotherhood. Same goes for the gun. Mainly stuck to the crossbow. They did change it for Revelations, charged shots are not insta-kills on tougher enemies. For group kills, the poison/datura bombs are a deadly (and silent) alternative, being effective on any guard.
In Syndicate, Ubisoft successfully iterates on past games - attempting to address some lingering problems with their popular series.Major changes (like the grapple and streamlined narrative) set the stage for one of the best Assassin's Creed titles while minor updates (improved character handling and smoother combat animations) pull Syndicate even closer to being a must-play title for any
Where Assassinās Creed Revelations gets things done is in its story, by providing players the chance to get some payoff for both good old Ezio and original Assassinās Creed protagonist Altair
I use Impact, British, Datura Powder. Guaranteed kills on anyone in the radius. Caltrops are as good as any other for escapes. I prefer Smoke Screen though. Tripwire bombs are theoretically good if you know the route you'll try to escape on with guards in pursuit or you know the routes that guards are patrolling.

Mirage is not representative of a drastic shift for Assassin's Creed.
