Press "A" on the lobby to add the second account or guest and then choose your desired playlist. It's worth noting that if you use a silver account you'll only be able to play offline, you'll have to sign them in

Yup. Halo 2 is backwards compatible on the 360 so just put the OG Xbox disc in and it should work. Think you might need a proper hard drive (Arcade's built in storage doesn't work). Keep in mind no online features will be available since original Xbox Live shut down a long time ago.
In settings, go to the network menu, and flip the fourth option down, called platform-based matchmaking, to disabled. Then, make sure everyone you want to play with has this disabled as well. Thankfully, a cool feature is coming our way since we’ll be able to play Halo 3 on PC through the Xbox 360 emulator Xenia.
