The 17-55 has a much more conventional range on your 60D, and the 24-105 is not that much faster than the kit lens. The 17-55 isn'the really tack sharp until f4, but it is probably your best bet. the 24-105 is sharper in the middle (40-50mm where the 24-70 is a bit weak wide open) they are about equal in the 70mm range. My biggest issue with the 24-105 II is that it's almost as big and heavy as the 24-70 2.8, so why not carry the faster/sharper lens as your walkabout if you're going to lug that much around anyway. My Canon R8 loaner came with the standard kit lens, a 24-50mm f4.5-6.3, a 24-105 f4-7.1, and a 50mm f1.8. The 24-50 bundles with R8 for $200 extra, while the 24-105 retails for about $400 . The

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a real walk-around general purpose zoom. Not to big, not to heavy, IS, very nice reach and good IQ. I like it more than the 24-70 F2.8L, witch is big and no IS. I bought this zoom when it came out ans still you it with lots of pleasure.
There are no focus distance or DOF markings provided on this lens. Canon launched the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens alongside the EOS 7D Mark II, featuring Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Movie Servo AF. Movie Servo AF makes recording video very easy and the STM lenses are very well-suited for this task.
Build quality is excellent. The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM feels very solid in your hand, even if it is mostly made out of plastic, and it features enhanced resistance to shock and vibration and weather-proofing too. The focusing ring is generously wide, and has a ridged, rubberised grip band.
Here are some more results of tests on the 24-105mm f4-7.1 IS STM. * After about 500 shots single AF accuracy is close to 100% on the RP. * I tested servo AF at 4 fps with a person walking towards the EOS RP but quite close so there was quite a large focus change between frames. 96% of frames were tack sharp. ixhl2.
