Boeing is offering two versions of the 777X. The 777-9 is the larger variant and will launch first. This has started test flights and is due to enter service with Emirates in 2022. The 777-8 is a shorter version (69.8 meters compared with 76.7 meters). It will have lower passenger capacity but a higher range.
In a separate development, the operator signed an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for the conversion of four Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft into full freighters. The agreement also includes an option for further Boeing 777-300ER conversions at a later phase. Japan's two major airlines have operated Boeing 777-300s that held 500 or more passengers — a tremendous amount of capacity for a twin-engine, single-deck aircraft. All Nippon Airways operates Pratt & Whitney-powered 777-300s used for intra-Japan service with a capacity of 514 passengers: 21 in premium class and 419 in economy class. Boeing 727: three aircraft. Boeing 737: one aircraft. Boeing 777-200: 19 aircraft. Boeing 777-300: 158 aircraft (146 of these are 777-300ER) Airbus A380: 123 aircraft in total. In the cargo fleet, it has also operated the Boeing 747 (six 747-400s) and currently the Boeing 777F. Emirates operated the 747 in the cargo fleet only.

Emirates’ newest B777-300ER planes feature only 6 First Class suites arranged in 1-1-1 layout: two window suites on each side and two suites in the middle aisle. That’s a 20% downscale compared to Emirates’ B777s with the old layout, which feature eight First Class suites (four along the windows and four arranged in the center).

Air India now operates all non-stop flights between Mumbai and the US with newly acquired Boeing 777 aircraft. Mumbai now benefits from enhanced US connections because of Air India's network expansion over the last year. Air India's fleet expansion includes leasing Boeing 777s to increase capacity and improve passenger experience.

Now, Emirates will take delivery of the 787-10, which offers the largest capacity for customers, with Boeing indicating that in a typical two-class configuration, the 787-10 seats 336 passengers.
