The Diesel Particulate Filter [DPF] will be a problem with all makes and models until the manufacturers get the mechanics of DPF sorted just like they had to with the catalytic exhaust system when they were introduced. The latest Colorado, Ford Ranger, Mazda BT50, have the device. The Ford and Mazda have a recall notice on their DPF due to fire.
So I go through the reset cycle, tried to force a regen - the revs raised then fell so assumed it didn't need one. Also balanced the injectors which improved performance a bit. A couple of days later the DPF light starts flashing again and the EML lights up. Not impressed as you can imagine.

The DPF light remained flashing and my garage (I had used them for years and have found them trustworthy and reliable) advised me to take it to another independent outlet to get the DPF "regenerated", which I did. All remained well till service needed in October 2011.
Dnes som dával vymenit olej pretože mi blikalo dpf na palubovke, všade som sa dočítal že by to mala byt. kontrolka signalizujúca interval výmeny oleja. Na oleji som mal najazdené cca 8000km ale pre istotu som už dal vymenit.

aust_norm said: They checked it out and apparently there is a bulletin out from Subaru Australia advising of the issue which is someting called " oil dilution ". The fix is to drain the oil (I assume it was engine oil) and reset the DPF sensor. All up a 15 to 20 minute job that was done for free. Norm.
